Hello Everyone;
I'm assuming by now that most everyone has heard that Rich Revelen died
late Tuesday afternoon from what was apparently a massive heart attack. It was
very quick with little, if any, suffering involved. Rich was home alone at the
time and had been sitting in his favorite Lazy Boy chair, enjoying his
favorite snack of cookies & milk. He had been reading the newspaper and
had it folded over, ready to start his daily afternoon/evening contest with
the N.Y. Times crossword puzzle.
Brigitte came home from work & found Rich on the hallway floor. She
called 911 and administered CPR until the Paramedics came; they intubated him
and tried to resuscitate him for over 20 minutes to no avail. Kathryn, Brenda
& I stayed with Brigitte until Rich was taken to the mortuary, and Kathryn
spent the night. Rich's 2 brothers, Bob & Joe, and his sister-in-law Dee
are now staying with Brigitte and he has cousins & nieces enroute to San
Diego.
There will be a 'Final Viewing' of Rich from 3:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday,
May 12th. People are encouraged to come, pay their final respects and stay to
commune with each other for as long as they wish. It is requested that the
8:00PM departure hour be honored so that the family may spend their final hour
with alone with Rich, prior to his being picked up at 9:00PM.
Beverages & light hors d'ouvres will be served. Brigitte requests no
flowers; she says that giving to the Leukemia Society was important to Rich
and encourages donations in his name instead. Dress code is definitely beach
formal, volleyball casual; please come dressed as Rich knew or would remember
you.
Brigitte asks your help in making sure that anyone who would want to bid
Rich 'adieu' has the opportunity to do so. Given the enormous number of lives
that he touched we ask your assistance in making sure that this message gets
forwarded to any & every body that needs to know.
As you may surmise, the telephone calls have been numerous and constant.
Kathryn Adkins is available at 858-922-8289 and my cell number is 858-472-0204
if you have any questions.
The first of our clan has fallen; he was the finest.
We look forward to seeing you all on Friday.
